Happy Birthday Mom!

This card was inspired and basicly scraplifted from a Cricut magazine. The issue is "Cricut Birthdays" and the card is on page 64. I got this issue from JoAnns with a 40% off coupon. Love that! I usually don't copy other people's work so closely but I really liked this card and it was just perfect for this special occasion. I did of course use different paper and a different Cuttlebug embossing folder than the card in the magazine, so it is a little different ;-).


I love the Bo Nash No Mess Glitter. So easy to use and like it's name says it really is no mess.

To make this card I used:

Cre8tivegirls Blogoversary Blog Hop! First Easel Card and First Entry into Cooking With Cricut Challenge

If you've hopped over from Doris' blog, you're in the right place! If you've just arrived here and want to start at the beginning, head over to Yvette's blog and begin the fun there. Yvette is celebrating her first blog anniversary and this hop is all about "firsts". What a great idea. I thought about making a 1st birthday or anniversary card but I don't have any use for one of those any time soon. Instead I decided to try out some new projects that I've never done before - they're firsts for me!

This is my first easel card. And since I needed a birthday card for a man, I decided to do an easel card with a masculine spin. And because this hop is all about "firsts" I'm entering this card into my first Cooking With Cricut Challenge. The challenge (#45) required using a sailboat in your project made with the Cricut.



Making an easel card is actually very simple but at the beginning I had a hard time figuring it out. Fold this, fold it this way, put this here, etc. - WHAT? I think I'm "craft challenged" in many ways! Then I looked at this video and it made it very easy. Clear sailing from then on! Get it-clear sailing? Ha ha. Here's the link for the written directions with pictures.


In order for the top of the card to stand up, you need to "build up" the base of the card with additional cardstock and a decorated piece of cardstock at least 1/3 the size of the base. This will hold the card upright in the easel position. In this picture the very top of the card was not attached yet.


This card does lay flat for mailing. It's pretty bulky though and will require extra postage.

Kraft cardstock
Cricut Imagine More cartridge- circle borders and sailboat
Cricut Imagine Hopscotch cartridge - for the cloud patterned paper (this is tucked behind the circle borders)
Scor-Tape - be sure to use strong adhesive
Technique Tuesday stamps - for sentiments
Martha Stewart border punch

This next card was made using the Cricut Imagine and the Imagine More Cards cartridge.


The entire card was printed and cut with the Imagine. It's really convenient to just use white cardstock when doing a project. I used a premade card image on the cartridge along with the cute birthday sentiment. I really like being able to choose which layers to print/cut and then I attach some with pop dots (like the chick here).

A Card for Peachy Keen Challenge #52 Featuring Action Wooble

This simple but LIVELY card created for Peachy Keen Sketch Challenge #52 was made using:

Hero arts stamp
Action Wooble to make the card lively as you can see from the photo
BoNash No Mess glitter and foil
Copic markers
blue and white cardstock
patterned paper - unknown

I just love how the Action Wooble makes any image move. It's especially fun to use for animal die cuts but as you can see, can be used for anything. It really adds so much fun and dimension to any card or project.

My inspiration for this card came from one of the cards in the new Cricut magazine. What a nice magazine! I haven't subscribed to it yet but I did manage to get the first issue and I really think it is well done.

For this 5x7 card I used:
Old West cartridge (for the number 80)
hemp twine

EK Success border punch
Cuttlebug embossing folder
Kraft cardstock
patterned paper from Imagine More Cards cartridge

After running the number 80 thru the Cuttlebug with a polka dot embossing folder, I used a sandpaper block to sand the raised areas.

I'm Still Here

I'm still here but haven't posted in a very long time! Now that the holidays are over and my daughter's birthday is this weekend, I'm hoping to be crafty a lot more often very soon. Here's a card made with a digital stamp that I colored with Copic markers.

Throwback Thursday Challenge 93

This card was made for this week's Throwback Thursday Challenge at Emma's blog. This is kind of a throwback with a twist. I used an older cartridge but I made it on the new Cricut Imagine! I have to say that making Hello Kitty on the Imagine is great - especially since she is predominantly white so less ink is used up. I also love Hello Kitty dressed in patterns instead of the usual solid colors. It was fun to make her on the new machine.

This card is approx. 5 in. x 6 in. - I'm still trying to figure out how to change the object I want to cut (the scalloped patterned paper) true size. It didn't turn out the size I wanted for a 5 in. x 7 in. card so I just trimmed the card.

I used the Hello Kitty Greetings cartridge and the Imagine Best Friends cartridge (fun patterned paper on this one). The stamp is from Hero Arts.

Calling All Princesses Throwback Thursday Challenge

Head over here to Emma's blog to check out the challenge this week. I'm getting mine online with just minutes to spare! I made this card today for my daughter's 4th birthday! She loves Cinderella!

This card was made using:

Disney Happily Ever After cartridge

Cuttlebug Swiss Dot folder

In my Gypsy, I took a square with rounded corners from the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge and then took the Cinderella image and overlapped it so she is just off the edge of the card. Then I welded them together. This made the body of the card and I think it gives the card a bit more dimension. Then of course I cut out all the pieces of Cinderella and put her all together - that was a bit of a chore. Not sure I'm really happy with how her face turned out but not sure how I could have made it better.

My baby is 4 on Sunday! She is my precious little princess!!!!

Masculine Birthday Card

Haven't been in the craft room for awhile and boy have I missed it! All my "extra" time has gone to cleaning the house which I'm way behind on. I was thinking to myself that I was doing spring cleaning - uh, a little late. Then of course today I needed a card and I needed it now. Nothing like waiting till the very last minute! Cards for men are a little more challenging for me and probably for a lot of card makers I suspect. So I tried to think "manly" and thought of trucks. The great thing about having the Gypsy is all I had to do is search in the Gypsy and that way I could find a truck. Fortunately, I had the cartridge I needed.

I've really enjoyed making shape cards. The Gypsy makes it possible and easy. So, this truck is a shape card made by welding together two trucks. It comes from the Just Because Cards cartridge. I've not made one of their cards from this cartridge but the images on it are fun and varied and you can just use them for your own card designs.

This card is approximately 8 inches long and was made using:

Just Because Cards cartridge
DCWV and Coredinations cardstock
Hero Arts photo polymer clear stamp - sentiment
frost white pigment ink with clear embossing powder - heat embossed

Just a note about stamping. Photo polymer clear stamps are much superior to clear acrylic stamps. Your stamped image will be crisper and the clear stamp itself will last longer and will give you the same consistent quality stamped image over time. I noticed that Hero Arts clear stamps are photo polymer - they're the same price as many brands of the clear acrylic version. So check it out and happy stamping!

The Sweet Stop Challenge SSS67- Birthday Card
